Friendly's Ice Cream

We went to Friendly's a few weeks ago, but I actually forgot that I wanted to blog about the ice cream. So, here I am, blogging about ice cream. xD [Of course, it's Yumi! XDDD]
So, while we were there, I ate what they called mozerella sticks. Actually, they seemed to me more like mozerella bites. They were no more than 2 cenimeters long and 1 cenimeter wide. They served 20 to me.
The little bite things were okay. I would have rather had actual mozerella sticks though.
Shii ordered onion rings. I tasted one. And they seemed good. I like a done onion ring. The batter should be more than just golden. And they were, so I was impressed.
But as for the ice cream:
It's not bad.
I'd rate it from 1-10:
7
It isn't bad. But there is better.
I ordered birthday cake ice cream. I really love cake flavored ice cream but this was a little too much.
This particular flavor: 4
The reason:
It had never ending swirls of chocolate mixed in with candy coated chocolate pieces all in cake batter flavored ice cream.
It was much too rich.
And the chocolate flavors drowned out what would have been a really great flavor of ice cream.

As for Shii's ice cream:
He ordered this purple ice cream. I think he said it was raspberry. And he topped it with peanut butter sauce. That sounds good.
And because he always gets it when we eat dessert there, I'm assuming it must be good.
Anyways~
That's all for now on ice cream!

Tomato and Onion Salad with Coffee Sauce

It sort of sounds-

It really sounds disgusting.

But it's really not.

^-^

I chopped up some onion and grape tomatoes and tossed them together in a bowl. Next, I made a sauce from some left over Kona coffee and mayonaisse. [Of course I tossed in a few other things but I can tell you what they are! ^-^;;]

Anyhow~ it was really quite good.

And~ I am not the person to talk about how something that I made was good. If I had to rate this from 1-10:

8

It had some flaws. But, that can be fixed! ^-^ And next time I make it, it will be!

Dofu Delight

Shii picked up something called Dofu Delight from the Asian Grocer last time we went. It was mango flavored.
To me, it looked like something I'd like to try.
You can check out that flavor and other flavors here:
http://www.asianfoodgrocer.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS&Category=1428
I have yet to order from Asian Food Grocer, but I really want to! It seems like they have a lot of great items!
Anyways~
The mango Dofu Delight was great! I really really enjoyed it. However, a downside was that it always made it's own liquid and when you cut a piece, it always seemed to be dripping from it and it was not attractive to have a pool of juice in the dish.
Regardless, the flavor was milky and fruity! It was delicious!
I am eager to try more flavors of Dofu Delight!
If it was to be rated on a scale from 1-10:
7
I would reccomend Dofu Delight for you to try!

I recently bought~~

I went back to the Asian Grocer and bought the following:

~ Ube Wheat Cakes

~ Ube Jelly

~ Cashew Rolls

~ Buckwheat Noodles

~ Pineapple Gummies

~ Lychee Gummies

~ Hot & Spicy Banana Sauce

~ Peanut Sauce

~ Yakisoba Sauce

~ Aloe and White Grape Juice

~ Aloe and Peach Juice

~ Mango Calpico

~ Pineapple Extract

Sooooo~

I certainly did not just buy all of these things and not do anything with them! ^-^ I'm going to tell you what I've done so far~

Sunday~

I boiled some buckwheat noodles and drained them.

Then, I tossed in some soy sauce and pineapple extract. It resulted in a salty flavor with a sweet pineapple after taste!

And, I've tried the Ube Wheat Cakes. They are amazing.

Here's a photo, closest thing I could find to mine on google. So I suppose this is almost what they look like, but I will take a picture of mine and post it soon~
Until then, I found this picture on yahoo image search of something close to them:

Also, the Cashew Rolls are too.

Shii doesn't like the Cashew Rolls.

They taste great though so whatever! Lol!

I made some onigiri recenly, not just for myself but some friends were requesting it! Plus, I really wanted to make one for Shii!

So, I made the following:

For the short grain rice, I decided to add a little color and [I hoped it'd add] some flavor too! I used some pineapple extract in my rice. It certainly turned my rice bright yellow but I must not have added enough because the flavor was barely there.

Anyway, I used ube jelly to fill two of them. One was Shii's. He likes more filling for his onigiri then rice. So I had a ball about an 2 or 3 cenimeters thick and a little coat of rice around the bottom two thirds of it. The other rice balls looked normal though. Haha.

One of the others was made also with ube jelly. That went to my friend Wendy. And I made one with pear slices that were sturated in sugar for a night and that one was supposed to be for my friend Sami, but she came late. I thought she wasn't coming, and I gave it to my other friend Teresa.

Haha. Wow. Now, I have to make Sami another. So when I do, I will take pictures. It should be Sunday night or Monday morning.

And, so far that's really all that I've done. I was pretty lazy last week. Haha.

I'll likely be back soon for more posting~

Creme Brulee Coffee

It's flavor of the week at my second favorite local coffee shop! ^-^ Oh it was so good! It had a really great flavor and it smelled very strongly of carmel. Just the smell made me want to drink it. 8D
I wish I had that coffee.
Seriously.
It was good!

Blueberry Muffins and

I'm at the coffee shop with Shii, we came here at an early time this morning. All Summer we have been trying to get here kind of early.
Finally we are here.
And Summer ends in 4 days. Well, we got here.
So, I had a blueberry muffin and a Cafe Au Lait.
Cafe Au Lait is love. Just in case you don't know, Cafe Au Lait is just coffee and steamed milk. It's not sweet but it is definatly amazing.
Anyways~
Shii ordered a Chai Tea Latte [iced] and a Raspberry Scone.
I'd say the blueberry muffin was alright. Not my favorite muffin but it was okay. And the scone, I took a bite, it was not bad. I didn't really taste enough to know.
But,
I'm still sitting here.
The atomosphere is really calm here. It's enjoyable. Unlike my grandmother's house...that's where we'll be heading when we leave here. o__o

Yumi Hates...

Frozen pizza.
-_-
I'd rather bake and make one by myself. Last night, there was nothing else to eat and I was stuck with DiGiorno.
Pepperoni and cheese~
>_>
Well, I'm sorry this is absolutely short, but Shinji is about to show up. So I have to go. But, I will post more very soon!

Quiche.

It's Yumi. I just want to say I love quiche. And I wanted to make it, but my grandmother decided to make it for me for my birthday, which was very recent. So, I took pictures while she was making it because I wanted to tell you guys about it. [I hope someones reading. 8D] Anyways,

somethings I noticed was the fact that she started out with a lot of eggs. That was something I learned while I was there. The fact that quiche is mostly eggs. =] You learn something new everyday.

I should have known that. xD

Anyways, the pictures I've put with this are the two pie crusts sitting on a pan covered in foil, ready for baking,

the white bowl of beaten eggs,

and lastly, the plate of spinach. [Yes, it was frozen spinach.]

In a few weeks, she's making quiche again. But, I'm hoping I get to help her next time.

Next time: Broccoli and Cheese Quiche.

Yum~ so much more exciting and tastier than Spinach and Cheese Quiche.

But still, the Spinach and Cheese Quiche was delicious.

I'm a Food Slacker...as usual...

Well, I recently posted a blog about all this wonderful food that I wanted to cook. [Yumi again, I have no idea when Shii's going to post. Ughh -_- I love him. lol] Okay, well, anyways, the only thing in that blog that I've done, is make pizza. It was okay. It's not like I had time though to actually have fun cooking it. Plus, Shii was supposed to be over that day but, he overslept and ended up never coming. So I didn't cook the pizza with him. Just me. And I had to hurry with it because Mom was hungry. No time for pictures or anything.

Anyways, it was okay. I bought some pepperonis to go on the pizza. I'm not a fan of them but...my mother is. So, I got some of those too. And worst of all about the pepperonis, they were not thinkly sliced. Ugh. Oh well.

The cheeses I used were AMAZING though. I think all cheese is amazing. ^//^ I used almost an entire bag of shredded Romano [one of my favorites] and I used a bad of three Italian cheeses. I can't seem to remember what cheeses they were though. =[

The pizza cooked fairly fast, at any rate. It almost scared me. I thought, "I'll check on it. There's probably a good ten minutes left since I just popped it in a few minutes ago." Well, when I checked it, the cheese on top was bubbling and the crust was an amazing golden color.

That was the best part of the whole pizza.

The crust.

I love a good pizza crust.

The crust was crunchy and very flavorful.

Before I put it in, I thought of lightly brushing it over with some melted butter but Mom was rushing me, so I just put it in. I wonder how that would have turned out. =]

I'll attach some pictures from google of the products I used since I couldn't take pictures.

Asian Grocer

In my town, I've had to shop in the Asian food section in WalMart. That's about, 3 feet wide. It's almost nothing consisting of Cup of Noodles and short grain rice. The basics. And so, I've had to travel about 45 minutes away to get to a Korean store. But finally, just the other day, I passed a small place on my way to go out and eat and I saw "Asian Grocer" on a sign. You do not know how happy I was.
I wanted to be there right then. But, I had to wait for Shinji. So, on my way home that night, I stopped by the store to look at their hours and then, I was even more pleased. They are open til 8 pm!! I was so happy. That makes it all the easier to get there!
Eventually I did get there. But it was without Shinji. =[
Anyways though, I got E-5, red beans [because unfortunatley, they had no red bean paste], Lily Bean threads, and Wasabi [of course the powder]
I didn't buy much because I wasn't expecting it to be so inexpensive. It only came out to ten dollars. So, I'm going to head back soon. I want to pick up Tonkatsu sauce and some more E-5 and hopefully a couple of other things.
But, that store is a life saver!

Food Plans

It's Yumi once more~~So I'm planning on making a few things just because [and Shii doesn't know it yet, but he will be helping], cooking is fun and where I live, it's not like it won't be eaten.
First of all, like I said earlier, I really do want to make spaghetti with homemade sauce. But, that's no longer at the top of my list of cooking priorities. Now I'm excited to make a few things besides this more. ^w^ I guess I get too excited. And a little besides the point, we just got a new store specializing in Asian groceries and that's great for when Shii or myself makes bentou. Which is another thing I haven't made since Summer has started that I'd like to make again. I find it to be better tasting than a microwave meal. Haha. Well anyways, for the things I'd like to cook/bake...
I really had this craving to make a homemade white cake and then put rainbow sprinkles in it. I know I could just buy a Pillsbury Funfetti Cake Mix but I really like doing things homemade. However, if I must, I'll settle and buy the cake mix. Anyways, also I got a little inspiration from the Food Network home page to make blueberry muffins, which I love anyways. ^-^ Also, I recently Wok-fried a banana which I breaded in flour and milk. I gave it to Shii for his desert and he told me how it was good. I made a little sweet cinnamon sauce to go with it. I tried a bite of the banana in the sauce and it was quite good. So that's something I'd like to make again. Also, I want to make more egg rolls. =] They're so delicious! And, I think I'd like to experiment some more with how I season and fry my chicken and what I fry it with. Lastly, I want to make a homemade pizza. Haha. What a list. I want to get it done~ and more =]

Oh and then it almost slipped my mind that I have about 10 recipes from the Food Network website that I'd love to try making. I have to remember that~ =]

My Grandfather's Spaghetti

[Yumi here~] It's amazing. The sauce I think is probably really what makes it more than good to me though. It's really very good. I thought it might be homemade sauce but I wanted to be sure. To my surprise, my grandmother tells me, it's not. But she won't say anymore. And it's not like I see jars of spaghetti sauce around here so I'm actually quite confused.
Anyways, I also had one of the sausages that he makes with his spaghetti and meatballs. And, I'm not really the sausage fan, but I have to say, that's some of the best sausage I've had. I could eat it all day. Haha.
As for the pictures, it doesn't look so appetizing in the paper bowl with the plastic fork, but that's how I was eating it. Haha.
I think very soon, I'll make my own sauce and spaghetti and post about it. Pictures too!

Cute Arm Band

<---The outcome

Yumi again~~The other day, I needed a toy for my bunny who looked really bored with his bouncy ball and chewstick. I know he likes to throw things so I gave him a stuffed animal. It had this lacey elastic ring around its neck with a ribbon so I decided to rip it off before I gave the stuffed animal to my rabbit.

It was really cute and I was thinking of things to do with it. And I thought that putting a strip or pink plaid fabric behind it would be cute because then I could sew the ends together and make an armwarmer. I think it's pretty cute~

Weaving~

Yumi again~ obviously. Hah. I'm the only one who likes to weave out of the two of us. So, I made a little yellow and blue cell phone case out of yarn. I really like it. I've given this one away to a penpal but, I've got a teal one in the making now.

Anyways~ the picture is the cell phone case I made before I gave it away.

Purple Velvet Cake and Sea Foam Green Icing

Good morning everyone, Yumi here. I was just thinking about the things we've recently done and I was thinking about the Fourth of July, when Shinji made a red velvet cake with cream cheese icing. The cake was very moist and thick. It tasted amazing. And the icing, was my favorite part. He made this wonderful cream cheese icing that I was eating from a bowl of it he stored in the freezer. It was very delicious.

Anyways though, he decided that we should make all different colors of velvet cakes. Well, I wanted to make a bright green velvet cake with light purple icing. But, there wasn't much green or yellow food coloring so we had to switch to green icing with a purple cake.

I'm almost positive we made the cake a little too purple. It looked like black and green cake instead of purple. But the icing, was this really pretty sea foam color. It was like an extremes cake. Where the cake was really dark and the icing was really light.

But, in the end, the second time the velvet cake was made, it tasted better. So I can't wait til the third time :3

My first try with Liquid Stitch

Yumi again :3

Good evening. I happened to be in the crafts section last time I was at WalMart and I noticed a product in a white tube labeled "Liquid Stitch" The name attracted me really, I thought, "Oh for those lazy days, I could just have a bottle of that!" So, I picked it up. It was around 3 or 4 dollars. Why not try it out?

So, I got home and decided immediatley that I was in a crafty mood. And I remembered a pattern I did about a year ago for a change purse, so I made it larger and decided to make it into a purse and add a strap.

Well, really, this was so I could see what I could do with a tube that does my sewing machine's work for me.

The outcome? Well, it's been a month or so. The bottom corners did not hold up so well. They seemed to bust open within the first few days of using the purse. And now, very recently the side has began to come open.

Overall, I'd say Liquid Stitch is a handy product but if you can, still handstitch or use the machine instead.

The purse~

Arm~warmers in the Summer -_-

Yumi here. How intelligent of me to sew a pair of armwarmers for Shinji in late July. Well, I guess with boredom comes an act that is not always the smartest. Anyways, I had an old shirt lying around, the pattern was very cute, but the shirt happened to be sort of small. And I saw very much potential in the sleeves of that shirt!

Just to talk about the shirt for a second, the tag reads "love by design" It was really an adorable shirt. It was so cute, I've had it for at least 6 months and have never worn it once [obviously if it doesn't fit] and I haven't had the heart to throw it away.

And, I haven't been out much lately. So, all of the fabric I had besides the shirt sleeves to work with was a yard of lime green twill and also a yard of pink plaid cotton fabric. The choice was hard, but in the end, I chose the lime green twill. The cotton fabric seemed more for baby blankets and such.

There my project began~

First, I cut the sleeves off of the shirt straight across. Next, I grabbed the trusty seam gauge and cut strips of lime green twill to use to stop the cut ends from fraying. With the seam gauge, I gave the lime green lining about an inch all the way around the tops of both armwarmers, pinned it down, and began to sew.

Well, I wasn't at home at the time so my machine wasn't with me. This meant only one thing~ handstitching. Oh joy.

I can only look forward to trying at this point so I just began to sew. Eventually, I realized, a pin had slipped and I had sewed the lining to the lining, right above the actual top of the armwarmer. I think I was very discouraged...maybe I almost quit.

Anyways, I had these seriously adorable large, colorful buttons. And I had a quick fix idea! So, there was still a little room where I could slip the armwarmer back into the lining and I did, but of course, it wouldn't go past the stitch that was already there. So, I sewed on a button and it looked just fine! ^-^ I was very pleased. It had an even cuter appeal with the button!

Lastly, I cut in thumbholes and sewing around the edges so they also wouldn't fray.

Unfortunatley, the picture I can provide isn't good quality because I currently do not have my camera. But, I hope you like them!
